How to mine Sumokoin
Created as a Monero fork, Sumokoin (SUMO) is relishing its reputation of a respectable cryptocurrency. Its combined characteristics allow you to mine it with both GPUs and ASICs. Whenever there is an option to use ASIC machines, feel free to do exactly that. They will provide you with higher hashing power, which will lead to more frequent income. To learn how to mine Sumokoin profitably, you will need to cover a few bases and we’ll show you how exactly: …more
- Choosing the best hardware, compatible with the coin algorithm
- Setting up your devices and accompanying software
- Joining a mining pool and how to decide which one to choose
If the above steps seem too demanding for you to start mining Sumokoin, then cloud mining might be the perfect solution. We’ve covered that option in detail further down in our article.
Why to mine Sumokoin?
Sumokoin has untraceable transactions feature, thanks to the encrypted addresses it uses – the RingCT (Ring Confidential Transactions). The team behind the coin is setting the transactions minimum to 12 mixings. This way they make the blockchain resistant to attacks. Bear in mind, that this is not optional, it is built in. That makes the link between a transaction and your real identity impossible. SUMO follows the principles of a trustless and decentralized, secure network of people. It is backed up by the peer-to-peer consensus as well. Interesting feature worth looking at is the 26-word SEED which you should write down when you create your account. The SEED encrypts your account and the associated files with a passphrase which makes them worthless if they are stolen. SUMO is completely compatible and exchangeable. It can act as physical cash. Being blacklisted is out of the picture. This young crypto coin is definitely worth looking at.
What’s the best way to mine Sumokoin?
The CryptoNight algorithm has changed with time. Now it can be mined both with graphics cards (GPUs) and with the new generation of miners – ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit). In other words, if SUMO is your coin, mine it with ASICs. These machines are much more powerful when compared to GPUs and they are created to work faster with this particular algorithm. In combination with its relatively low power consumption and high hashrate, ASIC will be the most profitable choice for you when mining Sumokoin.
One important aspect of mining is whether you’ll go for it solo or join a mining pool. For SUMO mining, our recommendation is to join a mining pool and combine your hashing power with that of other participants. When a block is found by the pool, the reward is split by the miners proportionally to the hash rate they’ve provided. This will guarantee you a percent of the reward, frequently.
What do you need to start mining Sumokoin?
When you think about it, the minimum to start mining at all is the hardware. Followed by knowing how to configure it and finding the proper Sumokoin mining software to execute the process. Since we’re talking about obtaining online money, a reliable internet connection and proper configuration are essential for the mining process. What else is connected to the money? That’s right – a wallet. That is all, when it comes to the basics. Here’s a quick summary of the essentials followed by a thorough SUMO mining guide:
- Mining Hardware – an ASIC miner.
- Reliable internet connection to access to mine continuously
- Wallet where you can store your coins
What else to consider before mining Sumokoin?
Your approach towards picking out a wallet for your coins is vital, in a way, as that is where you’ll have access to your earnings and you want them to be safe. You can choose the type, depending on the characteristics and security levels. There are mobile, desktop, online, paper and hardware options available. We have looked at each in details here.
Another inevitable part of the Sumokoin mining process is the noise and heat produced from the hardware. For that reason, it’s not recommended to run multiple mining rigs or ASICs in residential area. Keep in mind that you need to clean them from dust regularly and to think about cooling solution or ventilation. The topic is immense, and you can read more in our dedicated page.
Which Sumokoin Mining Hardware to buy?
There are numerous variations of graphic cards, mining machines, configurations and so on. For Sumokoin we have made a table for you. The hardware has been chosen based on the current profitability for CryptoNight algorithm:
Recommended Sumokoin Mining Hardware
Antminer X3 ASIC

- 220 KH/s ; 550W
- 125mm(L) x 207mm(W) x 334mm(H)
Software and hardware setup and configuration
We will guide you through the configuration of Antminer X3, since it’s the most profitable CryptoNight hardware currently on the market. Here are the steps:
-
01. Connect all the cables with your ASIC
Connect the internet and power cables to their respective sockets. - when you receive the machine read through the manual – which cable goes where
- connect the LAN cable from your router to the Ethernet port of the control board
- connect the cables coming from the power supply to the hashing boards and control board
- connect the power supply to the electricity network
- wait for few seconds to boot
-
02. Choose a Mining Pool
After the successful boot, you will need to choose a pool, that need to be configured in your mining hardware. Here are some examples for good reputable mining pools, where you can earn SUMO:

You can find more information about mining pools, payouts, reward systems and most important criteria for choosing the best one in our overview page of all mining pools.
-
03. Discover the miners’ IP address
The next step is to find the device’s IP address, which you will need for initial configuration. This can be done with a special tool provided from the hardware manufacturer. You can read the manual for detailed information how to use the program. If you have access to your router’s DHCP server, you can also grab the IP address from the clients table.
-
04. Configuring the device
For ASIC machines, the software is integrated, and the setup is done through a web browser.
Open one of your choosing and enter the IP address of your device. You can use the default username and password for the login. If you don’t know the login credentials, you can always read the manual.

Go to Miner Configuration/General Settings and fill out the information needed for each pool’s section.
For anonymous pools you need to enter– URL, port (of the pool) and worker (your wallet address). If you have more than one miner and you want to name them, just put a dot after the wallet’s address and type a name after it.
For example:
URL: pool.sumo.hashvault.pro:5555
Worker: Sumoo5MKzAegSKa9pcvzfEXscHrb8RtpwGyv6DenAmS9V7KKXFTqMWKdTqnXnAk.worker1
A working configuration should look like this:

You can fill the rest of the groups to ensure that the software will automatically switch to another pool, if the first one is not working.
When done, click save and apply in the down right corner of the page. After а minute or two, your miner should be running, and you can monitor the hash rates from the status page.
Sumokoin cloud mining
When you pick cloud mining to earn Sumokoin, you will have to pay rent in order to use the hashing power from a marketplace of your choice. This way, you avoid the noise, heat, dust buildup, and other unpleasant factors that traditionally go hand in hand with mining.
Some of the well-known cloud mining providers are:
These two are actually the middle man, who acts like the connection between you and the crypto rewards. The process is not so complicated. You just need to choose the right provider, that suit your needs.

This step avoids synchronizing the whole blockchain locally on your PC. The growing number and enthusiasm of the team members behind Sumokoin makes it interesting for new investors.
Sumokoin Team
Two friends, back in 2016, decided to become an active part of the cryptocurrency world. They announced Sumokoin in “The Bitcoin Talk” forum back in the days. The team keeps its privacy and there is not much on the topic.
